Nachdem der New Yorker Rapper Nas im vergangenen Mai nach einigen Verschiebungen gemeinsam mit Damian Marley das Kollaboalbum "Distant Relatives" veröffentlichte, arbeitet er nun bereits schon an seinem neuen Soloalbum.
Zwar gibt es noch keinen Titel oder Veröffentlichungstermin für das Album, in einem Statement erklärte Nas allerdings, dass es eines der wichtigsten Alben[inku] seiner Karriere sein soll:
"I've been good though, my man [Damian Marley] holds me down -- but I'm definitely looking at my solo project as one of the most important records of my life. You know what I mean? I'm happy, I'm happy to be here. I love the state of the game. I love it man...It's gonna be magic. That's all I feel. I feel a magic thing happening and brewing. I keep calling it a magic moment, that's what it's gonna be. I feel the stuff I'm writing down and the directions I'm thinking about going into."
Zwar steht auch noch nicht fest, wessen Beats letztendlich auf dem Album landen werden, Nas hat jedoch schon mit einigen Produzenten über eine Zusammenarbeit für das neue Album gesprochen, darunter unter anderem Swizz Beatz, DJ Premier, Alchemist, Dr. Dre, Kanye West und RZA. Außerdem gab auch der aufstrebende Producer Alex Da Kid bekannt, dass er an dem neuen Nas Album arbeiten wird:
"I'm working on Nas' album. I kinda know his manager, through my publisher, actually Jessica Rivera at Universal. She publishes Nas and when 'Airplanes' came out, he was like a big fan of 'Airplanes,' like, he loved thatsong and when it came out he was like, 'Yo let's get it, let's roll.' But our schedules just haven't matched up yet. I think I'm going to get with him in three weeks in New York, at some point, so yeah, I'm excited for that."
Man darf gespannt sein.
